October 8, 2013

Good morning! Yesterday I got the mail, baked cinnamon rolls for us, cleaned the house, took my last walk around the mile & a half loop, which is too bad because the weather is beautiful, but there are too many loose dogs that aren't friendly & neighbors who own those dogs who just watch as the dog races towards you, teeth bared & barking, off of their property & across the street. Nope, the police need to get involved. We have leash laws in this town. What amazes me is that they just watched ... they didn't call their dogs, they JUST WATCHED as their dogs came at me. Anyway, after my final walk outside this beautiful fall season, I went to work. I listed a bunch of items for sale & then re-opened my eBay store. It's been years, but it was just as I had left it. I had to go in & change the item categories, delete a couple of pages, upload a store photo, etc. It's nice to have my store back. I took my lunch break, took the dogs out & made Frito pies for us, & then hubby got home from work. Yesterday's Sims game was Padronale di Gerrard & my Sim Aaron has been working on his gardening. Once he catches up he'll start having a social life. This morning I took the dogs out & loaded up LizC864 7. My Sim Orlando just enrolled in the university towards & science & medicine degree. He's been working on his skills & will be going to class.

Hit the flea market near closing time. You can find a good price on items that vendors don't want to haul home again.

Many people haven't really experienced even a moderate degree of synergy in their family life or in other interactions. They've been trained & scripted into defensive & protective communications or into believing that life or other people can't be trusted.

Mayflower colonists decided to land at Plymouth Rock because the ship ran out of beer. Why beer? Because it stayed drinkable far longer than water on a long ocean journey.

Now is a good time to work on your charm, so don't tell people about your flea problem. Not until you know them better anyway.

⊛ October 7, 2013 ⊛

Good afternoon! What a beautiful fall day. :) Saturday I had Rice Krispies for breakfast, cleaned the house, & then signed up for Dish. Oh how I've missed TV! Having the TV tuner on the PC didn't record shows well. The sound would cut out a few minutes in & stay out just long enough to not really understand what's going on. When it mysteriously cut back in, you were lost already. It happened 9 out of 10 recordings. No good. The digital converter box worked well, but we didn't have a large enough antenna to get all of the channels & there was no way I was spending over $100 for a roof mast & then who would put it up there? If I wanted to watch a show, I had to drop everything & go watch the show. Now w/ Dish, we have EVERY channel (they had a great deal that included everything ... all channels including HBO, ShowTime, CineMax, Starz, Blockbuster @ Home, you name it & then some ... $45/month! The movie channels are only free for the 1st 3 months, then it's back to the regular lineup of everything BUT the premium movie channels for $45/month (for 1 year). Even after the 1st year, when prices go back up to normal ($75/mo), it's still going to be HALF of what we paid w/ DirecTV. YAY! And we have the COOLEST new features that DirecTV didn't have ... like the Hopper (SWEET!), Prime Time Anytime (SWEET!), etc. Oh so cool! Dish blew away DirecTV in both features AND price! Right now I'm watching Syfy ... some movie called Drag Me To Hell. I've set up all our favorite TV shows to record & can't wait. Crystal clarity, no sound cutting out, I can walk into the kitchen w/o interrupting the signal ... oh I missed satellite TV! From now on when we cut back on expenses, TV won't be one of them. :) Oh, & Dish has games like DirecTV USED TO before they decided to discontinue them. 5 Card Slingo is gone, but they have cool new ones here. I'm so glad we're w/ Dish now. After being a loyal customer to DirecTV for about 15 years, I'm sad to say I don't miss them & their discontinued services, lack of services, & outrageous prices. GO DISH! Another difference between the 2 ... when we would move & call DirecTV, they'd take a week & a half to come out. Not only did Dish come out in less than 24 hours, but they came out on a SUNDAY MORNING! Now THAT'S service! The tech was really nice, too. I updated my schedule to remove watching TV shows AS they aired & updated someone's work schedule (I'm their ride), went to work, then went to my other job, grabbed lunch at Baker's Drive-In on the way home, went back to work at my 1st job, the FD got toned out to a structure fire but was unable to locate it, & then I headed out to pick someone else up (my 3rd job) on Saturday. Busy day. :) Saturday's Sims game was Lots To Give & my Sim Ivan is in the university towards a science & medicine degree. He's been going to classes & working on his skills. Sunday morning I took the dogs out, went through the Sunday paper, updated my online TV Guide to show Dish instead of antenna local, removed all the channels I wasn't interested in seeing (LOTS of them), mostly sports, religious, & international programming, then the Dish installer showed up. That's another thing, DirecTV says "between noon & 5" & gets here closer to 5. Dish said between noon & 5 & got here at 11:30a! WOOHOO! 4 hours of working & a large tip later & we were up & flying. I put my office back together (they had to move everything), updated my schedule again (I seem to have missed a couple things the day before) & added the channel lineup as I went through the channels live to see what some of them were & to make sure we got them all, took the dogs out, had a boiled egg for breakfast (yeah, I know ... it was 8:30p & I finally had breakfast ... another really busy day), cleaned the house, the FD got toned out to a med call, & I showered. Yesterday's Sims game was LizC864 2 & my Sim Ann-Marie Tong just had her baby, George Tong (2nd gen). George loves the heat, is eccentric, a Taurus, like roots music, egg rolls, & the color blue. This morning I took the dogs out, set up Dish to record our favorite shows (I couldn't do this any sooner because the guide hadn't finished downloading yet), & then loaded up Padronale di Gerrard in Sims. I love this house! Great game too, because my Sim isn't in need of a degree from the university. he achieved his lifetime wish of the perfect garden AS the game started because of the garden that was included w/ the house. He's been gardening & if he ever catches up with it (as the plants die off of old-age), he'll finally have time to go & start a social life. City Council Meeting tomorrow evening @ 7:p.

★ October 5, 2013 ★

Good morning! It wasn't supposed to drop into the 60s until around 5:p. It was in the 70s when I woke up at 9:a, but it just dropped down to 63 & it's only 10:23a. I love it! I can wear my beautiful sweaters now! I need to move to a colder climate. :) Yesterday I went out to McDonald's for breakfast & then brought a bag of double cheeseburgers & fries to the high school. After that it was off to work, stopped at a bank, grabbed lunch, went to Allen, came back & got the mail, went for my walk, took a shower, took the dogs out, & then started on a huge project in my crafting room. I emptied the top shelf in the closet, the top of the wall unit in the closet, & all the shelves in the wall unit in the closet. Once that was done, I started taking buckets of my yarn out of the utility room & displaying the yarn on the shelves. It looks GREAT! I can see my yarn now! Instead of digging through solid buckets to see what I've got to work with, it's now like walking into a yarn store. I can see & touch the yarn, choose something & just pull it off the shelf & use it. I emptied 5 buckets! The top shelf in the utility room is clear, so is the top of the freezer, 1 whole stack of buckets & half of another stack. I still have a LOT of buckets of yarn stacked in there, but I made a dent ... a large one. I have lots of shelving that needs to be installed in the crafting room & once I install that, I can clear out a lot more, if not all of the yarn that's still hidden in buckets in the utility room. The crafting room WILL look like a yarn store. After all, I used to have a yarn store up in Princeton & when the main store that I was renting in shut down, it all ended up here. I'll now have my own personal yarn store to peruse any time I want to start a new project. I already had that, but it wasn't quite the same all hidden away in floor-to-ceiling stacks of solid plastic storage buckets. When you walk into a room & there's yarn displayed beautifully on wall to wall shelving ... well ... that's just wonderful! :) The project stopped when everyone got home from work which was the same time I finished filling all the shelves in the closet. I was now at a point of having to install the shelving on the walls. Perfect timing. I was at the perfect stopping point. Yesterday's Sims game was Winter Retreat & my Sim is in the university towards a technology degree. He's been going to classes & working on his skills. This morning I took the dogs out & loaded up Lots To Give. My Sim Ivan is in the university towards a science & medicine degree. He'll be going to classes & working on his skills. 10:51a & we just dropped into the 50s. WOW!

Good morning! I had a donut for breakfast yesterday, cleaned the house, got the mail, went for a mile & a half walk around the loop, updated my schedule to include someone's updated work schedule for the upcoming week, went to work myself & listed a bunch of t-shirts on eBay, took the dogs out, watched Big Bang, had a quick lunch, then watched Crazy Ones, 2½ Men, & Elementary. I had a little bit of time before everyone got home from work, so I went back to work & listed a few more t-shirts. Yesterday's Sims game was Gray Manor & my Sim Zelda has been working on her street art skill. Early this morning the FD got toned out to 2 med calls, I took the dogs out, headed off to work, came back & loaded up Winter Retreat. My Sim is at the university toward a technology degree & is working on his skills.

☺ October 3, 2013 ☺

Good morning! Yesterday started off w/ an Eggo, then I got the mail, cleaned the house, went for a mile & a half walk, went to work, had to cut that short to pick someone up in Princeton ... again an unplanned pickup that made me have to drop everything & leave work ... not cool people!, I had peanut butter on Ritz for lunch, took the dogs out, the FD got toned out to a mutual aid structure fire, I had a meeting that I had to attend so there would at least be a quorum, got back & watched Revolution (I made it back while the opening credits were still running, so I missed a little, but not much), went back to work for about half an hour, caught CSI, then hubby got home from work. Yesterday's Sims game was Caravelle & my Sim Piper is in the university towards a phys ed degree. She's been going to classes & working on her athletic skill. This morning I took the
dogs out & then started up a brand new game in Sims. This one is Gray Manor (2nd pic) & I placed it in Dragon Valley. My Sim is Zelda. She's an avant garde, hot-headed, brave, irresistible, & neurotic. Her lifetime wish is to be street credible. She likes cheesesteak, custom music, & the color sea foam. She's a Pisces. Her furry companion is Opal, a Himalayan cat who is destructive, piggy, & friendly.

Good morning! Yesterday was so busy that I never even made it to work. A DVR would have helped ... 3 shows were on yesterday. I did manage to get the mail, cook bacon for breakfast, clean the house & go for my mile & a half walk around the loop. On the last part of the walk my NCIS alarm went off & I had to speed walk to make it back in time before the show started. NCIS, NCIS: LA, & Chicago Fire ... then hubby came home during the news @ 10. My Sims game yesterday was Tahoe Pines & my Sim Michael Shallow is in the university towards a technology degree & going to classes & working on his skills. This morning I took the dogs out & loaded up Caravelle. My Sim Piper is in the university towards a phys ed degree. She'll be going to classes & working on her skills. Board of Adjustments meeting tonight @ 7:p. I'll be there!

For the Republicans to win any more elections they have to get rid of the Republican image. The big business image. The party of the rich, which is the label of the Republican party. So here are some of the things that the Republicans are going to do to change their image: They're offering free polo lessons to the blacks. They're letting poor families spend a weekend in the trunk of a Rolls Royce. They're distributing caviar helper to the 100 neediest cases. And ... corporation lawyers are going to teach the poor loopholes so they don't pay any taxes. -Johnny Carson 1977

NoteNow:
Have you ever wanted to use your iPhone's / iPod touch's lock screen as a note keeper? Well, now you can!
Just open the application and follow these simple instructions:
· Tap the note to bring out the keyboard.
· Write your note.
· Swipe the note down or tap on the top of the screen to hide the keyboard.
· And finally take a screenshot by tapping the bottom of the screen, or by pressing both the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time, and set that image as wallpaper so that you don't forget anything!
What people are saying about NoteNow:
“…if you’ve been looking for an easy to use app to store all your other thoughts and activities with a different method, well — there you go.” - Federico Viticci, MacStories
If you want to make a new note, all you have to do is swipe left. Then to go back to previous notes you just have to swipe right.
Swipe the note down when the keyboard is hidden to bring out the settings, there you'll be able to change the app so that it looks however you like it best!
Note: There is a known issue in which if you try to use a saved screenshot as your wallpaper it will appear too big in iOS 7, this is due to the parallax effect. You can disable parallax by going to Settings→General→Accessibility→Reduce Motion
This will disable the zooming into the image used as a wallpaper, I'm working on a fix, but for now this can be used as a workaround, unless you don't mind the zoomed in look.

October 1, 2013

Good afternoon & happy October! Yesterday I had Carnation Instant Breakfast, got the mail, cleaned the house, paid the bills, went for a walk, & then went to work for as long as I could before I ran out of time. Yesterday's Sims game was the culinary career & my Sim is a child in school & has been doing his homework. This morning I changed all the calendars, took the dogs out, updated my schedule for the week, & processed an incoming Avon delivery. Today's Sims game is Tahoe Pines & my Sim Michael Shallow aged up from a teen into a young adult, gained the equestrian trait & chose 'swimming in cash' as his lifetime wish. Michael headed off to the university towards a technology degree & besides going to class, will be working on his handiness & logic skills. Tonight is National Night Out ... leave your front porch light on & go out & enjoy a block party, cookout, parade, visit from emergency personnel, rally, march, exhibit, youth event, safety demonstration, seminar, etc.

Sandwich, Massachusetts:
Being from the north east originally, this place is, to me, is beautiful. I would love to live here, but the problem is the cost of living in the north east. The cost is why we moved AWAY from there. I do miss it though. I miss the food, I miss the style, I miss the weather. Don't get me wrong, Texas is great! It's just not what I'm used to. I'm not used to the TexMex food, I'm not used to there not being any basements in houses & the house styles are very different, & it's HOT. I'm not used to fire ants either. We didn't have those in Jersey. One of the things I DO like about Texas is the politics. It's a mostly Republican state & I prefer the gun laws here. The north east seems to be mostly Democrats. Considering how far right-wing we all are, we fit in better
here in Texas. Back to beautiful Sandwich; The population was 20,675 at the 2010 census. The Town Hall is located right next to the Dexter Grist Mill, in the historic district of town. Sandwich was first settled in 1637 by a group from Saugus with the permission of the Plymouth Colony. It is named for the seaport of Sandwich, Kent, England. It was incorporated in 1639 and is the oldest town on Cape Cod. The western
portion of the town was separated from the original "Town of Sandwich," and it became the town of Bourne, in 1884. There are many historic homes in Sandwich, including the Benjamin Nye Homestead, on Old County Road (formerly known as the original "Old King's Highway"), the Benjamin
Holway House, built in 1789, at 379 Route 6A, which property also now currently hosts one of the original Nye Homestead structures, built in 1698, believed to have originally served as either a tavern or a shop, and which is now used as a law office. There are several attractions in
Sandwich, including Heritage Museums and Gardens, the Wing Fort House, the Sandwich Glass Museum, the Thornton Burgess Museum, Hoxie House (the oldest house on Cape Cod), the Dan'l Webster Inn, and the Dexter Grist Mill, the oldest on Cape Cod, and Shawme Lake. The Sandwich town boardwalk is also popular for tourists. The walkway was destroyed by Hurricane Bob in 1991, but was rebuilt via private donations. Sandwich is home to numerous art galleries, rare book and antique stores. It is also home to a major portion of Otis Air National Guard Base, including half the land the runways are on. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 44.4 square miles (114.9 km²), of which, 43.0 square miles (111.5 km²) of it is land and 1.3 square miles (3.4 km²) of it (2.98%) is water. Sandwich is bordered by Cape Cod Bay to the north, Barnstable to the east, Mashpee and Falmouth to the south, and Bourne to the west. It is approximately fifty-seven miles south-southeast of Boston. As of the census[4] of 2000, there were 20,136 people, 7,335 households, and 5,515 families residing in the town. The population density was 467.9 people per square mile (180.6/km²). There were 8,748 housing units at an average density of 78.5 persons/km² (203.3 persons/sq mi). The racial makeup of the town was 97.75% White, 0.38% African American, 0.31% Native American, 0.54% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.32% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. 0.80% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 7,335 households out of which 38.1% had children under the age of 5 living with them, 65.0% were married couples living together, 8.1% have a woman whose husband does not live with her, and 24.8% were non-families. 20.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.72 and the average family size was 3.18. The median income for a household in the town was $61,250 and the median income for a family was $66,553. Males had a median income of $49,195 versus $33,516 for females. The per capita income for the town was $26,895. 3.1% of the population and 2.2% of families were below the poverty line.
