Happy 2014 !

Good morning & happy 2014! I know I haven't been on here in a WHILE & that's because I REALLY got into Minecraft. I made a New Year's resolution to stop playing this game 20 hours a day & actually get my life back. I'm still playing, as you can see from the screenshots, but I promised myself that I'd do OTHER things, too each day. I'm not going to get into the past couple of weeks. It's too much to try to remember. I played a
LOT of Minecraft of course. :) I was trying to figure out how to start a Minecraft server so that I can share my worlds with others, but due to our slow DSL connection I wouldn't be able to have more than 3 people at a time on the server. That would be nice, but it would shut down the Internet for myself & the rest of the household, so that idea fell flat. Then I discovered Maps. I can create towns & then
upload the map for people to download & play. YAY! I'm going to do that. I'm planning on 1 a month. With that plan in mind, I created a brand new world for the new year. 2014 January LizC864 Minecraft. The 1st pic is the screenshot of the spawn point. This is where I'll start my town. The 1st home is a rustic house (2nd - 7th pics). It turned out very nice & has in-floor lighting inside & also in-ground lighting
outside. It looks fantastic & I tried to get a shot at night, so I sat around & waited for it to get dark, but then it rained all night until sunrise & the shot wasn't a good one because of this. It really does look cool though with the in-ground landscaping lighting. You can see it in the pics, but it looks so much cooler at night. :) This world is, I THINK, a swamp. It has some of the characteristics of one & I saw a slime which
are supposedly mostly seen in swamps. I had no idea what it was! I saw this little single-block green thing hop past me. A frog? I followed it into the water. A frog. I Googled it & nope, it was a slime. 1st time I've encountered one in the game. This will be interesting later when I pop out of creative mode & go exploring. I've never encountered one before & am not sure how much or what kind of damage one will do
to me. I tried out Minelands on facebook which is a Minecraft-like game, but so far I like the real thing better. I might like it much more once I really figure out what it can do other than just building & when & if any friends join it I'll see what that does for me. After building this Minecraft house, I took the dogs out & then loaded Wild Stallion Ranch in Sims (8th pic).

Believe in your dreams.

Good evening! Monday I took the dogs out, made eggs over easy for breakfast, cleaned the house, the FD got toned out to a med call I put some dish Music on, checked out the message boards in Ravelry, then settled down to play Minecraft on the laptop on the sofa. Yesterday I took the dogs out, processed my incoming Avon order, & then my PC crashed, so it was off to Minecraft on the PC for the WHOLE day. WOO! This morning I took the dogs out & then loaded up Minecraft & tried out creative mode for the 1st time (2nd pic). 9½ hours later ... LITERALLY ... damn! It's dark out! When I got to Sims 9½ hours later, I loaded up Modern Condo by Curtis Paradis & my Sim
Victoria Bunch just sat down & watched some TV for a while, which sounds like a good idea since hubby just got home & it's already after 9:p.

Cellar:
Cellar is an amazing way to manage your wine collection. It's not just a bland list of names and vintages - it's a proper cellar! So browsing your wine collection is like looking at the real thing.
** Winner of Best Innovation in the Toque Magazine Food App Awards 2011 ! **
Customize each bottle based on:
✭ shape of bottle
✭ colour of glass
✭ bottle top
✭ wine label
Add information about each one, such as:
✭ Wine Producer
✭ Vintage
✭ Grape (including blends)
✭ Name
✭ Region
✭ Type
✭ Price
✭ Personal notes
✭ Pairings
✭ Drink from and by…
✭ Personal star rating
✭ 100 pt wine scores
Locations
--------
Cellar is more than just a Cellar. It's a Garage, Wishlist and Trash skip as well! Finished a bottle? Move it to the Garage for future reference if you enjoyed it. Didn't like it? Move it to the trash, where you can locate it later if need be. What about wine that you've been recommended or tasted in a restaurant? Enter it straight into your Wishlist and then move to the Cellar when you eventually purchase it.
Portrait mode
------------
Sometimes viewing your wine in the landscape mode is not ideal. Simply tap the portrait mode button (top right) and you'll see a list view of your wines in all four locations.
Search and Sort
-------------
You can search for wine based on any of the data you've entered, as well as sort your entire collection based on: Type, Region, Vintage, Price or Rating. Search and Sort are available in both landscape and portrait modes too!
Backup/Restore/Merge
-------------------
Worried about losing all that info you've entered? Use our backup feature to keep a .cellar file copy on your computer. Meanwhile, 'Merge' allows people in the same household to enter half their Cellars each on separate devices, and then merge them both to create a complete database!
Email individual bottles
--------------------
This feature is pretty nifty. You've heard of emailing wine info to friends in other apps haven't you? Well this is different. When you email bottles in Cellar, you're actually emailing the bottle itself, not just some info about it. The recipient simply taps the link provided in the email and the whole bottle is downloaded into their Cellar, shape, glass color, label image, notes and all!
Other features
------------
✭ Statistics on your wine collection
✭ Quicknote and Quickpair menus for fast data entry
✭ Popups for grape varieties, producers, etc
✭ Shake to choose - If you can't pick a bottle to drink, give your device a quick shake when viewing your collection and Cellar will choose a bottle for you!

Good morning! Saturday I took the dogs out, made breakfast sausage, got the mail, cleaned the house, sent out the grocery list, cleaned out my Outlook.com e-mail, had lunch, showered, played Minecraft until it was time to go to work, went to work & that was about it for the day. Yesterday was a day of not doing much of anything on my schedule. I woke up very late to a desktop computer that was hosed as far as the firewall was concerned, so I just let it sit until hubby got up & in the meantime played Minecraft on my laptop. Hubby was woken up by our son who needed a ride into town, so we went out, dropped him off, came back & hubby worked on my PC. Once it was up & running
I managed to at least take the dogs out, pay the bills, & go through the Sunday paper. After that it was back out to pick up our son & then run errands for the rest of the day. By the time we got home, there wasn't much time left to do anything other than just eat a quick dinner & play Minecraft until I couldn't stand my sinus headache anymore & went to bed. This morning I took the dogs out & loaded up the Science career in Sims (2nd pic). My Sim Gary Jr. (2nd gen) just aged up into a child!

December 14, 2013

Good morning! I slept in a little today. Only overslept by almost an hour, but I needed it. I've been cutting my sleep short a LOT lately due to my Minecraft addiction. I swear, I went totally OCD on it. I wake up wanting to play & know I have things to do 1st. So far, I've been good & have been taking care of what I should before playing. It takes a lot of self control though. LOL!
Yesterday I cleaned the house, sent out the grocery list, & then loaded up Sims & downloaded the #1 download of the month ... Chateau de Bellevue (2nd pic). It's creator also created a Sim that I downloaded separately named Cloe (1st gen) who is charismatic, a bookworm, a perfectionist, over-emotional, & artistic. Her lifetime wish is to be a journalist. After that was downloaded, set up, & I got Cloe her job in the journalism career, I RAN over to my laptop to play Minecraft. I have entered the Nether! I almost got lost in the Nether, too. Dark place, lots of hallways. Also lots of chests w/ cool stuff inside! No screenshots of the Nether since it was so dark, but I do have screenshots of my houses, the portal, & the new fireplaces with real fires on Netherrack instead of the lava I was using for the fireplaces. Netherrack fires are dangerous though. Hard to keep contained even when they're completely enclosed w/ cobblestone & glass. Check out my facebook & Pinterest albums later for yesterday's screenshots.

Good morning! Yesterday I took the dogs out, had eggs over easy & toast for breakfast, cleaned the house, sent the grocery list out, made grilled cheese for lunch, & then it was on to Minecraft & Sims 3. I'm almost done w/ my 2nd house in Minecraft, Old-Fashioned. I've decided that when I'm done building up this world, I'm going to open it up to the public as a Minecraft server. I'm waiting until I'm finished because I know people will only go in there & destroy it. At least people will
get to see it & play it for a while & maybe even add to & improve it before it's destroyed by someone. At least SOMEONE will see all my time & effort instead of just deleting the world & starting over. That's a long way off though. Like I said, I'm not even finished w/ my 2nd house yet. There's be a full town hopefully before I open it up as a server. There will be stores where you can go for free materials, houses to stay safe in at night, & lots to explore. YAY! Yesterday's Sims game was LizC864 4 (3rd pic). I had to go back to playing Sims on my desktop PC. There's a load/save issue on the laptop & I don't know how to fix it. It'll do it, it just takes 20 minutes each time. Ugh! That's OK though, I need to move
more. I'm getting old & sitting on the sofa that long every day w/ a laptop on my lap was causing hip pain. This way, I play Minecraft for a while, then get up, stretch, & come over to my office to play Sims for a little bit, then back to Minecraft. No more hip pain! :) My Sim Christine (2nd gen) is excitable, brave, & mean spirited. She's going to grade school & will age up into a teen the next time I play.

Good morning! Yesterday I sent out the grocery list, cleaned the house, turned on Pandora & headed over to the sofa to play Minecraft & Sims on the laptop. I finished my LizC864 Minecraft California Craftsman Mission (2nd pic). (OMG! My mind is turning to mush! I just typed MindFart instead of Minecraft)! Anyway, I'm proud & you can check out all the pics here: Pinterest or here: facebook. Today begins a new house near this one (I'm building a city). The next house will be wood & much smaller. It'll be called Old-Fashioned. In Sims yesterday, I started up August House in Midnight Hollow. Speaking of, I need to download Midnight Hollow onto my desktop PC ... after I install an update to Origin. I really love the
laptop, but it really BITES at playing Sims. I had to turn the graphics way down which I finally noticed as being crappy, & the load & save times are unbearable. I also have a hard time seeing. Dragon Valley is dark & so is Midnight Hollow. I still need to play a more lit town to see if I like it or not. Still not sure what to do about the load & save times though. :(

Ever wonder how much it would cost you to give your true love the gifts in the traditional Christmas carol "The 12 Days of Christmas"? In 2010, the cost was calculated to be over $23k!

Hectic pressure to find just the right gift during this "season of joy" might drive you crazy. My advice is to call in sick, skip school, & stay in bed until Judge Judy comes on. A McFlurry w/ OREO cookies would be nice about 3:p.

I want to thank my staff. For Christmas, they gave me a dinner for 2 at Sparks Steak House in Manhattan. That's a rough steak house. Waiter asked what I wanted for dinner & I said, "Duck," & 8 people hit the floor. -Johnny Carson 1986

December 11, 2013

Good morning! Yesterday I cleared out my Yahoo e-mail, had a mozzarella stick for lunch, cleaned the house, took the dogs out, checked out an app on my iPhone 5, & then sat down to play Minecraft & finally load up Sims on my laptop! Minecraft is great as usual, but Sims ... not meant for a laptop! I've got a great laptop, but it can't handle Sims with all the settings cranked up like I have it on my desktop gaming PC. The lack of a huge graphics card just kills it. I knocked all the settings down a notch & restarted the game. No difference. Then I knocked all the settings down again ... finally I hit a point where the game played well & amazingly, I didn't notice any difference. It's not like my Sim turned all blocky or anything. It finally runs smooth, but there's still a problem. Loading a saved game from the main menu takes about 20 minutes! WTH?! On my desktop PC, it takes a couple minutes, but not 20! Same thing for saving. On my desktop ... 30 seconds. On my laptop ... 20 damn minutes! What gives?! Now before you ask, I have a mirror image of downloaded content. Everything I have on my desktop, I have on my laptop. Same stuff. Desktop is tri-core, laptop is quad core. The laptop is missing the graphics card from hell that my desktop has, but that shouldn't have anything to do with loading & saving ... only with playing. Everything I'm seeing in forums has to do with CC, but like I said, if one of my CC was the problem, wouldn't I have the SAME problem on my desktop PC since it's all the same stuff? My 1st Sims game on the laptop is the criminal career in Dragon Valley. I lost cornucopia. It turns out that they no longer have uploaded worlds in the exchange. Now I can only play worlds that are created by EA. There are 11 of them total, I own about 6 or 7 of those. My Sim's name is Olivia (1st gen). She's ambitious, athletic, evil, a genius, & a kleptomaniac. Her lifetime wish is to be the Emperor of Evil. She likes spaghetti, geek rock, & the color spice brown. She's a Capricorn. Her furry companion is a Toy Fox Terrier named Vicki (1st gen) who is non-destructive, playful, & aggressive. Olivia bought the cheapest house she could find in Dragon Valley, bought the essentials she needed for her dog, & after food, only had a few dollars left to her name. No car, no radio, an old-timey TV, a single bed, crappy fridge ... she's starting out the way everyone should. No cheats, no loans.  She will earn everything she ever has, which right now is next to nothing. The very 1st thing she did was get a job (also as everyone who just graduated high school should with the exception of those smart enough to find a way to go to college), but having no PC or money meant going to the business directly to get the job instead of applying on the PC. Then she wanted to learn gardening, so it was off to the library since she couldn't afford to go to the bookstore & buy the book. When she got home, she cleaned the house ... which is easy when you live alone, it means picking up the newspaper out of the front walkway. She wanted to learn the painting skill, so she had to fork over some money for an easel. Worth it since you can make money on your paintings. All skills my Sims learn are skills that you can earn money with. The skills that don't produce an income are generally skipped & viewed as time wasters. Life is short, if you're going to have a hobby/skill, make it a profitable one at least. :) After that it was the normal daily routine of things everyone has to do. Shower, dinner, bed, work, & paying bills. When she finally had some free time again it was off to the library to use their PC & check out the online dating site. She uploaded her profile & checked out the eligible guys in town. 2 of them caught her eye & she sent them messages. Then it was off to work & back to the daily routine. I love playing the big beautiful mansions in Sims because I love living vicariously through my Sims, but I also love the realistic games like this one. The one where they start out in the tiniest house in town, have nothing, & have to scrimp & save for everything they ever get. I don't use cheats to get money, I don't immediately marry to move up to something better. I make them earn it all by themselves. Marriage isn't until after they've succeeded in their career (reached the highest level). THEN & only then can they marry, move out to their new hubby's (better) house, & start a family. This happens when they're somewhere right between young adult & elderly. In the middle of mature adulthood. Young adulthood is for working, elderly/retirement is for relaxing ... mature adulthood is for working AND being a spouse & parent. The hardest part of life when you're trying to balance everything at once. By now you have a nicer house, a couple cars, a spouse, a couple pets, children ... it's rough. I wait until mature adulthood so they're at least secure in their jobs, good at cooking, & have a good routine in place before adding more people & pets to the picture. It's hard when you graduate from school, & are immediately married, pregnant, & trying to start a career ALL AT ONCE.

As the spirit of Christmas lowers the boom on your wallet, remember the true intention of gift giving 0 to get relatives, friends, & coworkers off your back for a few weeks. Be generous - jumper cables, an ashtray from a national monument, or cherry-flavored Tums are a good start.

Christmas gift suggestions: To your enemy, forgiveness. To an opponent, tolerance. To a friend, your heart. To a customer, service. To all, charity. To every child, a good example. To yourself, respect.

Conscience is the endowment that senses our congruence or disparity w/ correct principles & lifts us toward them - when it's in shape.

Dead Sea isn't a sea. It's actually a lake. It's technically not dead either - there are minuscule amounts of bacteria & microbial fungi in the water.

Economy is in bad shape. Economy is bad. Wouldn't you know, due to this recession, Santa Claus this year had to drop 2 of his hos. -Johnny Carson 1974

It feels secure too -- a concern for many corporate users -- with password protection and the ability to backup and restore data at will.
